Our noise awareness training course focuses on how noise levels can be reduced to safe levels at work. The course also covers how employers and employees can take steps to minimise hearing loss at work. This course is suitable for those working within construction and industrial environments, as well as the entertainment and leisure industries.
Noise and vibration can pose great risks to health and safety on a business premises or a construction site. Phoenix Safety Services offers a noise awareness training course to deliver learning of noise and vibration measurements and assessment, noise limitations and risks associated with high levels of noise.
Learning outcomes of our noise awareness training course
- Awareness and learning of the Control of Noise at Work Regulations legislation
- Learning about the inner ear, eardrum and how loud noise and vibration can affect hearing
- Understanding how to prevent hearing loss and protect hearing
- Learning about noise limits
The course covers the importance of protecting hearing against loud noise and vibration. Noise affects the body in different ways – the way it can damage your hearing depends on how often you hear it, the duration of the noise and the volume. Delegates are taught how easy it can be to damage their hearing if the correct precautions are not taken. This course teaches the warning signs to look out for, and the damage that can occur in the inner ear. Delegates learn how to spot early warning signs of hearing loss.
The course also covers how noise can be measured and at which point noise can be damaging to hearing. Delegates learn of actions they must take when noise reaches a certain level. Noise limits, hearing tests and actions to protect hearing are also investigated on the course.
A key focus of the course is the importance of hearing protection, the types of hearing protection available, how hearing protection helps protect the ears, and how to check the integrity of hearing protection. Delegates learn how and when to wear hearing protection when working.
Why take a noise awareness training course?
It is vital that workers on a construction or industrial site take a noise awareness course that complies with health and safety legislation. Employers have to follow the law and abide by the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005. This law states that an employer must:
- Identify and eliminate or reduce risks from noise exposure
- Take all reasonable steps to protect employees’ hearing
- Provide hearing protection and other necessary equipment to protect hearing
- Provide up to date training and information/reviews on noise awareness
At Phoenix Safety Services we offer noise awareness training to help both your business and employees understand the importance of hearing protection in loud environments. Our tutors are highly skilled and experienced, and ensure that lessons always remain engaging and informative.
