In the case of an emergency, having first aid training is a life skill everyone should learn. With Phoenix Safety Services, you and your organisation can provide staff with life-saving training on your premises, so that your employees have the skills and confidence they need to react and save lives in an emergency situation.
Every organisation needs to appoint an authorised person who can take charge of first aid arrangements in a workplace, such as looking after a first aid kit, incident reporting and calling an ambulance in an emergency. An authorised person can support a qualified first aider, or act as a substitute first aider if no other first aider is available, but cannot give first aid for which they have not been trained. We always recommend that authorised persons take a course in first aid authorised person training.
Current health and safety legislation recognises that some workplaces have low employee numbers, and therefore may not need a full first aider, but still require an authorised person who can take charge in an emergency situation and make first aid arrangements.
At Phoenix Safety Services, our first aid authorised person course provides delegates with the practical skills and knowledge they require to carry out duties as an authorised/appointed person under the Health & Safety (First-Aid) regulations 1981. During this half-day course, delegates will learn their responsibilities as a first aid authorised person, and how these fit in line with current legislation, as well as how to take action in an emergency.
All of our first aid courses cover the major principles of first aid and the responsibility of taking on the role of the first aider within a corporate setting. Delegates learn how to check if a condition is life-threatening, how to assess and report an emergency, and how to take charge when someone becomes ill or injured. Upon completion, the first aid authorised person training course does not have a formal exam, but delegates will receive an appointed person’s first-aid certificate.
