Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme - SSTS

The Construction (Design & Managements) Regulations 2007 requires that all employers of construction workers are competent in a range of health & safety issues: To be competent an organisation or individual must have:

Sufficient experience and ability to carry out their duties; and
Sufficient knowledge of the specific tasks and risks

This two day course is designed for those persons, who have, or are about to have, supervisory responsibilities.

Overview

The SSTS course will ensure that all supervisors have an understanding of health, safety & welfare and environmental issues. It will provide them with an understanding of their legal responsibilities and will highlight the need to supervise health & safety effectively

Structure & Content: 2 days including examination

The course covers The Health & Safety at Work Act and the regulations relevant to the construction industry. To include:

• Health and Safety Law
• Developing a Health and Safety Management System
• Occupational Health
• Fire Prevention Control
• Risk Assessments and Method Statements
• Hazardous Substances
• CDM Regulations
• Working at Height
• Personal Protective Equipment
• Manual Handling
• Accidents and First Aid

Assessment & Certification

The delegates are expected to participate and be interactive throughout the course. The course is assessed by a multiple-choice test at the end of the course.

Successful candidates will have a valid certificate for 5 years, but due to ever changing health & safety legislation, technology and cultural behaviour, we recommend that candidates attend a 3-yearly refresher.

The course is a perfect foundation for all supervisors in the construction industry and will provide a natural progression onto the 5-day Site Safety Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course or onto the NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Safety courses.
