NEBOSH (National Examination Board of Occupational Safety & Health) Award in Health & Safety at Work – 3 days
This qualification will benefit organisations who are seeking to implement a basic health & safety training programme as part of their workplace culture. It will ensure that employees have an understanding of the principles of risk control reducing the numbers of accidents and incidents, resulting in cost savings to the organisation.
Overview
The emphasis of the course is based upon the development of safety management principles, legal responsibilities, risk assessment and strategies for controlling risks. This makes it ideal for smaller business wishing to make improvements to their safety management.
Structure & Content: 3 days including examination (HSW1) and practical risk assessment (HSW2)
The course is split into two units:
HSW1 – Workplace Safety Foundations
HSW2 – Workplace Risk Assessment
The Key topics covered:
- Health & Safety Foundations
- Risk Assessment & Control
- Work Equipment
- Manual Handling
- Electrical Safety
- Fire Safety
Assessment & Certification
The delegates are expected to participate and be interactive throughout the course. The course is assessed by a multiple-choice test at the end of unit HSW1 and a practical Risk Assessment at the end of unit HSW2.
Successful candidates will have a valid certificate, but due to ever changing health & safety legislation, technology and cultural behaviour, we recommend that candidates attend a 3-yearly refresher.
The course is a perfect introduction for anyone who needs to understand the principles of health & safety as part of their job. It will also provide a natural progression onto the NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Safety courses for those candidates who want to specialise more in health & safety.
