Where workers are required to enter environments that are not safe to breathe this course provides workers with the skills to competently use self-contained BA or Airline BA.
To provide and assess delegates practical knowledge and skills to carry out pre-use checks and donning procedures on specific breathing apparatus and certificate their competence.

- Definition of breathing apparatus
- Elementary physiology
- Set & cylinder construction
- User pre-use checks
- Donning procedures
- After use care and wearer checks
- Record keeping
- Storage of BA
- Health & hygiene
- Group exercise
- Practical exercise/assessment
- Written test
This course will conclude with a practical wearer exercise & assessment, using manufactures standard procedures. Also a written test will be given to all delegates.
On completion of this course a Phoenix Safety certificate of competence will be awarded to successful delegates.
