First Aid Training Courses

Having first aid training is a life skill we all should learn in case of an emergency. At Phoenix Safety
Services, we provide our clients with this life-saving training on their premises so they can go forward
with the skills and confidence, they need to react and deliver critical care when the need arises, in turn
saving lives.

We offer a range of general first aid training courses that cover a variety of topics to give those studying
them a comprehensive understanding of the practical knowledge and skills they require to react in a
medical emergency. We highly recommend our Emergency First Aid At Work course to all employers
and workplaces, as this provides delegates with essential information on their duties and responsibilities
in work (or at home), under the UK Health & Safety (First-Aid) Regulations Act 1981. This course has
modules that incorporate the major principles of first aid and what it means to take on the role of first
aider within a corporate setting. It also gives those studying an understanding of first aid legislation, so
they are aware of their role and responsibilities within the law. Delegates will understand how to use
primary survey to check if a condition is life-threatening, before then proceeding to a secondary
assessment to check for illnesses and injuries. The course covers the following:
– Breathing, respiration disorders and problems with the respiratory system
– How to resuscitate a person in a life-threatening emergency
– Circulation disorders
– How to treat bleeding and different types of wound
– Treating shock
– Epileptic fits
– Treating minor burns and scalds
– How to use a first aid kit
– How to deal with foreign objects

This course can be taken as a full day or half day session if limited first aid knowledge is required. There
is a final exam following the full day course to ensure that candidates understand what they have learned
and can apply their knowledge to situations effectively. An attendance certificate will also be awarded to
each delegate.

a general introduction. It is also ideal for those who feel a basic knowledge of first aid is sufficient for
their workplace. This course is designed to provide delegates with a general understanding of the
principles of first aid so they can react and give medical assistance, even when another more experienced
first aider is unavailable. The course covers record keeping and accident reporting, as well as the basic
principles of first aid and initial observations. It also covers:

– How to manage an unconscious casualty
– Treating bleeding and various wounds
– Shock
– Treatment of minor injuries

This course is a four-hour half day programme. Following completion of the course, a final exam does not
have to be taken, but there are regular assessments made by the course tutor, who delegates can contact if
they have any questions.
